Can I use Texas Signals for surplus funds (overages)?
We show what is posted and sold, not the surplus amount. Here is how the data can still help.
Surplus funds (overages, excess proceeds) are what is left when a foreclosure or tax sale brings in more than was owed.
What we have
- Which properties were posted for sale and on which date, so you know what went to auction.
- Tax-delinquent amounts owed, which helps you judge whether a tax sale could leave a surplus.
What we do not have
We do not track sale results, winning bids or the surplus amount held by the county or trustee. Those come from the trustee or the county clerk or district clerk after the sale.
Surplus recovery has strict rules in Texas, including who can file and what you can charge. Talk to a Texas attorney before contacting former owners about surplus funds.
Quick answers
Does Texas Signals show surplus funds amounts?
No. We show what was posted for sale and tax amounts owed, not winning bids or surplus held by the county.
